Trump Pushed Back on ‘Morning Joe’ Fake News

This week, Joe Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski of “Morning Joe” revealed they had a meeting with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

This created a bit of a meltdown on the left, but Scarborough noted they wanted to clear the air and offer a fresh start for Trump’s second term.

Well, that fresh start got off to a rough start, as Trump is already challenging a report by Scarborough this week.

Not True

Scarborough offered his “take” on one of Trump’s cabinet picks, Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary.

Scarborough stated, “I will say on background, in our conversation on background, there are a couple of things that surprised us.

“One of them was, when his name came up, there was not a flinch, but a noticeable ‘we got problems here.'”

Scarborough eventually caved and revealed the nominee was Pete Hegseth, adding, “Those weren’t the words [used]. But I will just tell you that was the takeaway.”

Trump transition communications director Steven Cheung was locked and loaded to challenge the report on MSNBC.

He immediately fired back, “Scarborough is wrong. Pete Hegseth dedicated his entire life as a warrior for the troops and for our country. Pete served our country as an Army Combat Veteran who did tours in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

“For his actions on the battlefield, he was decorated with two Bronze Stars, as well as a Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

“He is an incredibly tough and smart candidate that will fight to put America First.

“With Pete as our Secretary of Defense, America’s enemies are on notice and our military will be great again.”

As soon as Hegseth was nominated, a report resurfaced regarding sexual misconduct allegations that had been levied against Hegseth, which resulted in Hegseth paying a settlement to, as he stated, make the problem go away even though he said he did nothing wrong.

Attorney Timothy Parlatore stated, “Basically, he was totally innocent. He did nothing wrong here.

“We went through a mediation and ultimately settled for far less than what she wanted. And that should have completely buried it.

“He had way too many drinks, and according to video surveillance and eyewitness testimony, this woman who was sober took advantage of him, and she was the aggressor.

“She took him by the arm and she led him up to his room.”

If Hegseth lasts that long, I am sure this story will come up again during the vetting process.

The man is about to be front and center under the spotlight, and that can quickly change a person’s mind on a position like this, especially if that spotlight is not going to go away for four years.

My feeling is that Trump had far better options from which to choose, but I will not be so bold to predict that Hegseth will not make it through.
