Trump Proposes Ending Taxes on Overtime

Donald Trump has been hammering the taxes angle as of late, but is he writing checks that he cannot cash?

The latest being Trump promising to end taxes on overtime income.

The announcement was met with the expected round of applause, but was it an empty promise?

So, this was Trump during a recent appearance, telling his supporters, "The people who work overtime are among the hardest working citizens in our country -- When you pass 40 hours a week, your overtime hours will be tax-free."

The Kamala Harris campaign immediately responded, “No matter how much he lies now, Donald Trump’s record and agenda are clear – as president, he stole millions of dollars of wages from the workers he purports to represent.

“He is desperate and scrambling and saying whatever it takes to try to trick people into voting for him.

“If he takes power again, he will only look out for himself and his billionaire buddies and their big corporations. There’s only one candidate in this race who will actually fight for workers: Vice President Kamala Harris.”

Trump has also called for eliminating taxes on tips and Social Security, the former of which was echoed by Kamala Harris.

Here is the thing, though…

Neither Trump nor Harris can eliminate any of these taxes unless they have the cooperation of Congress, as only an act of Congress can do this.

Since neither candidate is likely to have the majority needed to pass such legislation, this will never happen and it is just idiotic to make such a promise.

The funny thing about this is that I was looking through various news sites regarding this promise, and they all echoed the sentiment about Congress, but they did not report it the same way when Harris said she was going to end taxes on tips.

All they are doing is again proving that we have state-run media in this country right now for how they frame stories when Harris says something and when Trump says something.

I am being honest here and telling you it is not going to happen, which is far more than most mainstream media outlets are going to do on this subject.

When Harris says it, they say she is a candidate of the people. And when Trump says it, they say he is a liar.

In terms of Harris’ campaign saying that Trump is desperate and saying anything to get elected, well, he is not the one flip-flopping on his policies.

He also does not have a Senator in his own party saying that he does not really mean his policies and is only saying what he needs to say to get elected.

Harris, on the other hand, just had Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) say exactly that last weekend during an interview.
