"Joe Biden is waging war on the U.S. auto industry with a series of crippling mandates designed to force Americans into expensive electric cars, even as thousands of electric cars are piling up on car lots all unsold,” Trump also said in the video.
“This ridiculous Green New Deal crusade is causing car prices to skyrocket while setting the stage for the destruction of American auto production," he continued.
The video comes as other GOP candidates prepare for the party's first presidential debate next month. So far, Trump has stated that he does not plan to participate.
Some candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis, have called on Trump to join the debate as part of the process.
The former president continues to hold a strong lead over the competition despite a growing list of legal battles that could include an upcoming indictment over his alleged role on Jan. 6, 2021.
The video strikes at the heart of a policy that many Americans despite, playing to his audience while continuing his popularity among many grassroots conservatives.
