Trump picks RFK Jr. to lead HHS
President-Elect Donald Trump has chosen Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Trump announced his selection via social media on Thursday.
Kennedy has already responded, saying that he is looking forward to the opportunity.
The big question, of course, will be whether the U.S. Senate will give Kennedy the nod.
Trump picks Kennedy
It was expected that Kennedy would play a role in Trump's administration given the fact that Kennedy suspended his own presidential campaign in order to endorse and team up with Trump. The only question was what role Kennedy would play in a Trump administration.
We now know the answer: Secretary of the HHS.
Trump, on Thursday, wrote:
I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) . . . Mr. Kennedy will restore these Agencies to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research, and beacons of Transparency, to end the Chronic Disease epidemic, and to Make America Great and Healthy Again!

Kenney responds
It did not take Kennedy long to respond to Trump's nomination of his for the HHS secretary.
On his X account, Kennedy released a long message, which began, "Thank you @realDonaldTrump for your leadership and courage. I'm committed to advancing your vision to Make America Healthy Again."
Kennedy went on to say:
We have a generational opportunity to bring together the greatest minds in science, medicine, industry, and government to put an end to the chronic disease epidemic. I look forward to working with the more than 80,000 employees at HHS to free the agencies from the smothering cloud of corporate capture so they can pursue their mission to make Americans once again the healthiest people on Earth.
Kennedy continued by revealing what his goals will be as secretary of the HHS, and he concluded by saying that he plans to be "an honest public servant."
He wrote:
Together we will clean up corruption, stop the revolving door between industry and government, and return our health agencies to their rich tradition of gold-standard, evidence-based science. I will provide Americans with transparency and access to all the data so they can make informed choices for themselves and their families. My commitment to the American people is to be an honest public servant. Let’s go!
