Trump Overshadowing Biden Administration as Nation Awaits Transition of Power
Typically, the media follows the outgoing president around for little tidbits as the administrations prepare to change.
The incoming administration grabs a headline or two here and there, but it is generally not the focus of the media.
With Trump, however, the opposite seems to be true, and this includes having the focus of other elected officials around the world.
All Eyes on Trump
Joe Biden snagged headlines over the weekend, but that was only because he pardoned Hunter.
Other than that, the focus of the media seemed to be Trump discussing possible cabinet picks.
Then Trump made his big announcement that he was headed to France for the grand re-opening of Notre Dame.
Everyone seemed far more interested in what Trump was doing, but there is another twist to this tale.
That being the number of foreign elected officials that have made the journey to Mar-a-Lago to talk to Trump.
For instance, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has already visited Trump in Florida.
Trump also recently met with Ukrainian President Zelensky and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu at his home.
Trump will be meeting with French President Macron this weekend when he heads over to France for the Notre Dame event.
By all accounts, there is more presidential business being conducted at Mar-a-Lago than there is at the White House.
But let’s face facts… this was just a part-time job for Joe before he lost the election, so it is no surprise that Biden is mailing in his last few weeks in office.
With all this taking place, Wayne Lesperance, a veteran political scientist and president of New England College, noted that nobody really seems to be paying attention to Joe.
He wrote that the last few weeks of an outgoing president are "usually filled with celebratory moments and efforts to cement one’s legacy. Often the focus is on their role on the world stage on behalf of America and its allies.'
"Biden’s pronouncements on Ukraine, Gaza, and the importance of climate change go largely ignored by world leaders. Instead, they focus on Trump’s picks for his foreign policy team and pronouncements about changes in U.S. foreign policy position.
“It’s pretty evident that while Biden attempts a victory tour, the world has turned the page."
Victory tour? I think history will judge this administration harshly when people are finally willing to admit the truth.
As far as most are considered in this county, January cannot get her soon enough.
