Trump Orders JFK, RFK, and MLK Records Released in Full
When Donald Trump was in office as 45, he had promised to release these records.
Some records were released, as they were under the Biden administration, but they were all heavily redacted.
Trump is now hoping to have unredacted records released, allowing the American people to finally see what the government knew about all three of these assassinations.
Time to See
Trump signed the order to release the information just after taking office.
The order stated, “I have now determined that the continued redaction and withholding of information from records pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is not consistent with the public interest and the release of these records is long overdue.
"And although no Act of Congress directs the release of information pertaining to the assassinations of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I have determined that the release of all records in the Federal Government’s possession pertaining to each of those assassinations is also in the public interest."
There has been a bit of a mixed reaction to the order.
The King family, which has members that both support and detest Trump, stated, "For us, the assassination of our father is a deeply personal family loss that we have endured over the last 56 years.
"We hope to be provided the opportunity to review the files as a family prior to its public release.”
Members of the Kennedy family accused Trump of using the documents as a political prop, but what else would you expect from a bunch of establishment Democrats?
Regarding the King announcement, I actually agree, as I think the families should all get copies of the records and have time to review them and make a statement about the files before the feeding frenzy begins.
We have waited this long to see them, so an extra week or two for the families to review should not be a big deal.
I am just glad we can finally put all of these assassinations to bed, so to speak, but I also think a lot of people are going to be disappointed by what they see.
My guess is the truly incriminating evidence was burned a long time ago.
