Trump orders Hamas to release all hostages in 'last warning'

President Donald Trump just ordered the Hamas terrorist group to "release all of the hostages now."

Trump did so in a message that he posted to social media on March 5, 2025. The entire message can be read here.

Trump, here, is referring to the hostages that Hamas is still believed to have in their possession following the terrorist attack that the group launched on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

The New York Post reports:

At least one American citizen hostage — Edan Alexander, 21 — is believed to remain alive following the abductions that took place during Hamas terrorists’ Oct. 7, 2023, rampage that triggered Israel’s invasion, which halted with a cease-fire agreement in January.

"This is your last warning!"

Trump released his "last warning" to Hamas after he met with some of the hostages that Hamas has already released.

Trump, on his Truth Social account, posted a message, writing:

“Shalom Hamas” means Hello and Goodbye - You can choose. Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you. Only sick and twisted people keep bodies, and you are sick and twisted! I am sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job, not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don’t do as I say.

The president went on to say that, if Hamas does not comply with this order, "you are dead."

He continued, writing:

I have just met with your former Hostages whose lives you have destroyed. This is your last warning! For the leadership, now is the time to leave Gaza, while you still have a chance. Also, to the People of Gaza: A beautiful Future awaits, but not if you hold Hostages. If you do, you are DEAD! Make a SMART decision. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW, OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY LATER!

By "a beautiful future," Trump is likely referring to the development plan he has mentioned. It is unclear whether any progress has been made on this plan.

Hamas responds

Fox News reports that Hamas has responded to Trump's warning by refusing to release more hostages.

"The Hamas terror group on Thursday dismissed President Donald Trump’s latest threat and refused to release more Israeli hostages without a permanent ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip," the outlet reports.

It adds, "Hamas spokesman Abdel-Latif al-Qanoua said the 'best path to free the remaining Israeli hostages' is through negotiations on a second phase of the ceasefire agreement."

At the time of this writing, neither Trump nor any one else in his administration has responded to this latest development.

Fox reports:

Hamas is believed to still have 24 living hostages taken in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack that led to the ongoing war. It is also holding the bodies of 34 others who were either killed in the initial attack or in captivity, as well as the remains of a soldier killed in the 2014 war.
