Trump Now Facing New Charges in Classified Documents Case

The legal hill that Donald Trump has to climb just got a little bit steeper.

Trump was smacked on Thursday night by the Department of Justice with the news that he will have additional charges in the classified documents case.

Additionally, another person has been charged.

Trump went completely nuclear after the charges were announced.

Election Interference

The new charges, if true, are very damning for Trump and may just prove to be his most difficult obstacle yet.

The filing by the DOJ paints a picture of clear obstruction, if the allegations are true.

Waltine "Walt" Nauta and Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira are at the center of the new filing.

De Oliveira and Nauta were seen on security footage moving boxes that contained the classified records around the property. That is hardly the most damning part of the filing, however.

The problem for Trump is regarding the allegation that these two men directed another employee to "delete security camera footage at the Mar-a-Lago Club to prevent the footage from being provided to a federal grand jury."

These men have now all been charged with "altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing an object, as well as a similar but separate crime of corruptly altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing a document or object," according to Slate.

The DOJ announced, "The superseding indictment adds a new Count charging Trump with one additional count of willful retention of National Defense Information.

"Carlos de Oliveira, 56, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, has been added to the obstruction conspiracy charged in the original indictment.

"The superseding indictment also charges Trump, De Oliveira, and Nauta with two new obstruction counts based on allegations that the defendants attempted to delete surveillance video footage at The Mar-a-Lago Club in summer 2022.

"Finally, the superseding indictment also charges De Oliveira with false statements and representations in a voluntary interview with the FBI on Jan. 13, 2023. De Oliveira has been summoned to appear at 10:30 a.m. on July 31, 2023, in Courtroom #5 at the James L. King Federal Courthouse in Miami."

The filing stated that on June 27, 2022, De Oliveira had told another party that "the boss wanted the server deleted." The "boss" is Donald Trump.

Trump responded to the additional charges, stating, "It's election interference at the highest level.

"They're harassing my company, they're harassing my family and by far, least importantly of all, they're harassing me," reported Fox News.

He continued, "This is prosecutorial misconduct used at a level never seen before.

"If I weren't leading Biden by a lot in numerous polls, and wasn't going to be the Republican nominee, it wouldn't be happening. It wouldn't be happening.

"But I am way up as a Republican and way up in the general election and this is what you get."

It is almost comical at this point…

On one hand, you have Donald Trump claiming he is innocent and these are all fake charges to take him out of the election.

On the other hand, you have Joe Biden denying the evidence against him regarding his ties to Hunter Biden's business connections.

And these are the two frontrunners in the 2024 presidential election.

How the hell did we get here?
