Trump Misses Filing Deadline for Supreme Court Immunity

After the New York civil fraud case had concluded, it was a given that Trump was going to lose the case, and he did.

Last week, Judge Engoron ruled that Trump had to pay a $350 million fine, which was more like $450 million after penalties.

Trump could be seeing more cases like that because his attorneys failed to file an appeal with the Supreme Court to grant Trump immunity from civil cases related to January 2, 2021.

Oops

I have been very critical of Trump’s attorneys in the past, but even I did not think they were so inept to forget to file such a critical appeal.

Trump had until February 15, 2024, to file his appeal to block civil cases based on presidential immunity, but no filing ever took place.

This dates back to a December 2023 decision, where the DC Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Trump, allowing several civil cases against him to move forward pending the Supreme Court appeal.

When that decision was announced, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung sounded as though the appeal was already in the works, stating that Donald Trump “will continue to fight for presidential immunity all across the spectrum.”

Trump will now face cases brought by several House Democrats as well as Capitol Police officers James Blasingame and Sidney Hemby, all of whom have active civil suits against Trump.

If Trump loses those cases, it stands to reason he could be on the hook for several more hundred million dollars, and the money has to be running thin by this point.

One of the Democrats coming after Trump is the forever thorn in his side, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who stated that Trump incited the violence that day, “and then watched approvingly as the building was overrun.”

When attempts were made to reach out to the Trump campaign to find out why they did not file the appeal, no answer was given.
