Trump met jurors on Day 2 and his lawyers met their social media profiles

Despite the fact that his first criminal trial is diverting his attention away from the campaign circuit, Donald Trump managed to meet with seven New Yorkers who will serve on his jury on Tuesday.

The jury, consisting of two attorneys, an oncology nurse from the Upper East Side, a West Harlem native of Irish descent, was sworn in on the second day of the trial, as POLITICO reported.

The day's proceedings were occupied with the procedure for selecting a total of 12 jurors, along with a few alternates.

Jurors Selected So Far

Three jurors are women and four are males among the twelve selected thus far. After the selection of the entire panel, which may occur by the conclusion of the week, the trial will progress to its following phase, which consists of opening statements and evidence presentation.

The jury will deliberate on whether or not Trump is guilty of concealing a hush money payment to a porn star by falsifying business records, who claimed to have had a sexual encounter with him.

Prosecutors assert that during the final weeks of the 2016 election, the cover-up withheld crucial information regarding Trump's behavior towards women.

The remaining jurors sworn in on Tuesday are a software engineer from Chelsea, a male from Puerto Rico who is an IT consultant, and a woman from Harlem who is employed in education.

The seven residents of Manhattan were chosen from a pool of 96 potential jurors when the jury selection procedure commenced on Monday afternoon.

Disqualifications

Dozens of individuals were unequivocally disqualified from the pool after they informed the judge, Justice Juan Merchan, that their impartiality was compromised.

Additional inquiries resulted in the dismissal of additional candidates; some were eliminated by the judge, while others were eliminated by the prosecution or defense teams, which each have the authority to waive the reason for dismissing a limited number of potential jurors.

Wednesday will be the trial's recess, and on Thursday morning, a fresh group of potential jurors will join the proceedings.

An appropriate course of action for a defendant whose public image has been significantly shaped by his conduct on social media, the legal representatives for Trump have combed through the social media profiles of potential jurors, searching for indications of partiality in comments and parodies from years ago.

The judge eliminated a number of them on Tuesday after reviewing their previous posts.
