"The executives 'made a soft appeal' in lobbying the 77-year-old former president to participate in the debates, according to a report from The New York Times," the Daily Wire reported.
"The report noted that several people close to Trump have warned that if he does not show up, it could backfire by allowing another candidate to catch fire," it added.

"Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is reportedly begging former President Donald Trump to participate in the upcoming Republican presidential debates, despite his reluctance to commit," Trending Politics reported.
"Ronna McDaniel, the RNC Chairwoman, and David Bossie, a seasoned adviser to Trump who is currently spearheading the RNC’s debate initiatives, held a meeting with Trump at his Bedminster club. Their aim was to persuade him to participate in the upcoming debate. McDaniel made the case to Trump that since other candidates would likely discuss him during the debate, it would be beneficial for him to be present to respond," it added.
Trump now seems to be at least reconsidering the idea with his meeting together with Fox leaders.
The appearance could be a positive for the former president, giving him an opportunity to speak directly to the American public after being targeted in multiple recent indictments.
Trump also recognizes that he would also become the focus of attacks by other candidates, something he could easily avoid while maintaining his current poll lead.
There is still time to decide, with many hoping he'll join the event to add to the excitement of the first debate.
