Trump Looking at Large Purchase in Texas for Migrant Detention Center

In October, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham purchased a large plot of land near the border.

She has since offered the land to the incoming Trump administration to use for an illegal migrant processing facility.

According to reports, Trump is now seriously considering purchasing the 1,402-acre plot once he comes into office.

Good Idea

Buckingham purchased the plot of land for just shy of $4 million and immediately announced she would make it available to Trump for a detention facility.

Buckingham stated, “Our message to the Trump administration is ‘we’re here, we’re interested.’

“Of course, we own property all over the state, so we’re ready to sit down with them and talk about what could be strategic.”

Trump has already stated that he plans on using the situation at the border to declare a national emergency.

Doing so would give Trump access to special funding, which could then be used to make the purchase as well as the funding of the construction of the detention center.

Texas has been front and center during this border crisis, and Buckingham made it clear that Texas will cooperate fully with Trump’s plans.

She stated, “We’ve identified some pieces that we think might be helpful to them, but of course, we will partner with the Trump administration for whatever they need.

“I think from the detention and deportation standpoint, we probably need some more urban pieces, which we do have.”

The entire country should be thanking Texas right now, to be honest.

Were it not for Governor Abbott shipping migrants to sanctuary cities, a move that was heavily criticized, including from some of the right, I doubt the migrant crisis would have ever reached national attention.

Abbott’s plan forced the media to cover the migrant crisis, which quickly revealed just how out of control the border situation was at the time.

If it had not been for Abbott, who knows how long, if ever, it would have taken for the media to start reporting honestly about the situation.
