Trump Issues Pardons for Pro-life Advocates

Over the last few years, we have seen pro-life centers vandalized with virtually no penalties for the culprits.

On the other hand, pro-life advocates have been getting arrested in bulk, something that Donald Trump wanted to rectify when he took office.

Among the slew of pardons that Trump issued on his first few days in office were 23 pro-life protesters who had been prosecuted under the Biden administration.

Set Them Free

I am all for holding people accountable for their actions, but some of the prosecutions of pro-life activists we have seen under the last administration were out of control.

Trump did not reveal the names of the protesters when he signed the order, but he did state, “Twenty-three people were prosecuted who should not have been prosecuted. Many of them are elderly people. They should not have been prosecuted.

“This is a great honor to sign this.”

All of these people were arrested and prosecuted under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which was signed into law under President Bill Clinton in 1994.

The law prevents physical confrontations and obstructions to reproductive health services as well as places of worship, but this was a one-way street for the Biden administration, clamping down on pro-life protesters.

In one instance, federal officers showed up in force at a man’s house to take him under arrest. It looked like something you would see when the feds were chasing someone for having killed an officer rather than a protester at an abortion clinic.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) was among those calling on Trump to issue these pardons, having stated, “Biden prosecuted pro-lifers—including an 89-year-old concentration camp survivor—for singing hymns in a clinic hallway.

“And then Biden turned around & handed out pardons for criminal murderers on his last day in office. President Trump can & should right these wrongs.”

Donald Trump issued the pardons the day before the annual March for Life in DC, which Trump was scheduled to address by video.
