Trump invited to England by King for second state visit

Donald Trump is all smiles, having received a personal letter from the King to come back over the pond.

The news broke this week with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House to discuss the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The British PM described the invite by the King as “unprecedented.”

Let’s Have a Visit

There were some dicey moments during the meeting, as Vice President JD Vance and Starmer continued to butt heads regarding free speech, but the visit was a good one overall.

Then Starmer broke the news that he had a personal note from the King for President Trump.

He stated, "This is really special. This has never happened before. This is unprecedented.”

He continued, "I think that just symbolizes the strength of the relationship between us. This is a very special letter. I think the last state visit was a tremendous success. His Majesty the King wants to make this even better than that."

Then Starmer stated that he was still waiting for his answer, and Trump responded, "The answer is yes, on behalf our wonderful First Lady Melania and myself, the answer is yes and we look forward to being there and honoring the king and honoring really your country. Your country is a fantastic country."

It will be interesting to see how the media reacts to Trump’s second visit, as the mainstream media pounced on every move that Trump made the first time around.

For instance, the New York Times reported, "The juxtaposition of high pageantry and low name-calling, on the first day of Mr Trump's state visit to Britain, captured yet again the odd swath that this president cuts on the world stage: impulsive and erratic, delighted by a lavish welcome but preoccupied by petty feuds or events back home.”

That was pretty typical of how the media described the visit, insisting that Trump could not allow petty feuds to go.

Trump fed the fire when he blasted London Mayor Sadiq Kahn, who was just the first mayor to be elected to a third term.

Trump hammered Kahn during the visit, posting, “@SadiqKhan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly ‘nasty’ to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom. He is a stone-cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me...”

“...Kahn reminds me very much of our very dumb and incompetent Mayor of NYC, de Blasio, who has also done a terrible job - only half his height. In any event, I look forward to being a great friend to the United Kingdom, and am looking very much forward to my visit. Landing now!”

Trump may not like Kahn, but getting elected to three successive terms is unprecedented, so the people of London clearly approve of the job he is doing.

I am just curious if Trump will bury the hatchet, but I think that is unlikely.

Kahn despises Trump, I would suspect he will lob a few missiles at Trump, and Trump will respond in kind, giving us all plenty to write about during that visit.
