Donald Trump's endorsement power is apparently going to get tested again in 2024.
For many, Trump failed the Republican Party in key races during the 2022 cycle.
While Trump has on overall winning percentage, many of those wins were uncontested seats or seats where the outcome was certain, such as Senator Chuck Grassley.
In the key battleground races, his candidates barely made a dent, which resulted in a thin House margin and the Democrats holding the Senate.
Testing the Waters
In 2024, we are likely to see that scenario play out again, as Republicans are hoping to turn some key seats with Democrats being forced to defend the majority of seats in the Senate.
Jeff Gunter will surely be among those being watched closely, as Trump's former ambassador to Iceland has decided to throw his hat into the ring for Senator Jacky Rosen's (D-NV) seat.
Gunter's announcement video stated, "As a medical doctor, I have always put the needs of my patients first — treating thousands of Nevada residents from various life-threatening ailments.
"Now, the mission at hand is to put the people of Nevada first by fighting for policies that bring economic renewal to our great state, tackle crime, secure the Southern border, and put healthcare choices back in the hands of patients," reported the Washington Examiner.
He added, "The fight to preserve our great country and the state of Nevada must be fought in the Nation's Capital. We must, at all costs, protect our liberties and freedoms that are being trampled on by the far-left agenda seeking to destroy the very fabric our nation was founded upon: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
"This is why I am proud to officially endorse President Donald J. Trump and challenge my opponent to do the same."
The GOP field already has several entries, including NRSC favorite Sam Brown.
The current Cook Political Report has the seat currently leaning Democrat, with Brown listed as the favorite (he has already received several key endorsements).
Former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) has endorsed Gunter and I am sure that Trump will do the same. Beating Brown would be a major accomplishment, but the ultimate goal here is to put the best candidate forward that can take this seat away Rosen.
