Trump Files New Motion to Have Hush Money Sentence Delayed
Donald Trump and his attorneys are at it again.
He has filed yet another motion to have the sentencing delayed in the New York hush money case.
And, once again, Trump is leaning on presidential immunity as the reason.
Stop the Sentencing
Judge Merchan recently announced that he will hold Trump’s sentencing hearing on January 10.
He is doing an unconditional discharge, which will not penalize Trump in any way, but he will still be considered a convicted felon.
Trump Spokesperson Steven Cheung responded, "Today, President Trump’s legal team moved to stop the unlawful sentencing in the Manhattan D.A.’s Witch Hunt.
“The Supreme Court’s historic decision on Immunity, the state constitution of New York, and other established legal precedent mandate that this meritless hoax be immediately dismissed.
"The American People elected President Trump with an overwhelming mandate that demands an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and all of the remaining Witch Hunts.
“We look forward to uniting our country in the new administration as President Trump makes America great again.”
I feel like I am beating a dead horse here, but presidential immunity does not cover this case, and it never did.
Not only that, the ruling he refers to changed nothing in terms of what qualifies for presidential immunity.
When the most recent ruling was announced, it more or less just rolled all previous rulings into this one, putting everything on the same page, so to speak.
But the key issue here is that this was not a presidential duty, not to mention that Trump was not in office when it took place, so there is no way it is covered under presidential immunity.
This is just a complete and utter waste of time, and the only thing I can possibly think they are doing is continuing to file these lawsuits to whip up his base and push the lawfare narrative.
