Trump Explains Why He Never Put Hillary in Jail

One of the key rallying cries during the 2016 presidential campaign was “Lock Her Up.”

This was brought on by Trump regularly promising to have Clinton locked up over her alleged crimes.

That never came to fruition, and Trump recently tried to explain why.

For more than a year, Trump had his supporters worked up over the possibility of putting Hillary Clinton behind bars.

It was clear as soon as he became president, however, that was nothing more than campaign rhetoric.

This is Donald Trump during his inaugural luncheon where he gushes over not only Clinton but also Generals Mattis and Kelly as well, two Cabinet members he would eventually trash…

Trump is now explaining why he didn’t try to put Hillary in jail after making that promise to his supporters for months.

He stated, “I could have done a big number on Hillary Clinton. I thought it looked terrible to take the president’s wife and put her in prison.

“She’s so lucky I didn’t do anything. Hillary is a lucky woman because I had a lot of people pushing me to — they wanted to see something.”

“I thought it looked so bad. Think of it, you have the President of the United States’ [wife] and you also had Secretary of State, right? She was. But you’re going to put the president’s wife in prison?”

He thought it looked bad, but he was the one pressing the issue during the election.

Trump continued, “I didn’t want to put her in jail, and I didn’t. And I explained it to people. You know, they say, ‘Lock her up, lock her up.’ We won. I said, ‘We don’t want to put her in jail. We want to bring the country together. I want to bring the country together.'

“You don’t bring the country together by putting her in jail.”

I would then have to ask why he made it a rallying cry during so many of his rallies leading up to the 2016 election.

Let’s hope Trump learned his lesson, as there are no olive branches to extend to Democrats, as he has learned over the last eight years.

You extend an olive branch, and they slap it away and go after you with everything they have.

Dems preach unity while holding a microphone in one hand and a knife to cut your throat in the other.

Dems want Americans at each other’s throats because that is how their party thrives. Chaos and hatred… that is the cornerstone of the Democrat Party.
