Trump-era Sanctions Against Venezuela Put Back in Place

When Trump was president, he placed heavy sanctions on Venezuela in the hopes of pressuring leadership to hold free and fair elections.

Those sanctions expired in October, with Biden choosing not to renew them, hoping to coddle up to dictator Nicolás Maduro as well as add more oil to the global market.

It turns out that all that Biden did was allow Maduro to make more money to oppress the opposition, so Biden had no choice but to put the sanctions back in place.

Drop the Hammer

Almost immediately after Biden lifted the sanctions, Maduro launched a campaign to violently attack anti-socialist dissidents.

Several Republicans at the time predicted this, and Senator Murkowski (R-AK) hit the nail on the head.

She stated,  “They’re easing up on the worst regimes in the world, giving them the revenues to stay in power and spread terror and corruption, while kneecapping environmentally responsible development in Alaska.”

Other Republicans, such as Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) ripped Biden for “begging for oil from socialist dictators.”

Additional criticisms were raised because the quality of the product coming out of Venezuela was far inferior to American oil, but this was going to help Biden’s climate agenda, so he lifted the sanctions.

Now, six months later, when Venezuela has failed to deliver on the promises made, the sanctions are going back into effect.

This week, the Biden administration stated, “After a careful review of the current situation in Venezuela, the United States determined Nicolas Maduro and his representatives have not fully met the commitments made under the electoral roadmap agreement, which was signed by Maduro representatives and the opposition in Barbados in October 2023.

“Therefore, General License 44, which authorizes transactions related to oil or gas sector operations in Venezuela, will expire at 12:01 AM on April 18.”

Yet again, another failed foreign policy result from the Biden administration, which should surprise nobody reading this report.

All Biden has done since taking office is look out for illegals, send our tax dollars to foreign nations, and make life more difficult for the middle class in this country.

It is just about time for us to kick the America and Americans Last administration out of office.
