Trump Co-defendant Says DOJ Retaliated Against Him

Joe Biden’s DOJ has been getting hammered by Donald Trump, and now one of his co-defendants in the classified documents case is taking his shot.

Walt Nauta, Donald Trump’s bodyman and former valet, is claiming that the DOJ retaliated against him for taking his constitutionally protected 5th Amendment rights.

Nauta claims others conducted themselves in the same manner but are not facing prosecution.

The Body Man

Nauta is a 20-year Navy veteran, having left the service in 2021.

During his final years in the Navy, he was assigned as Donald Trump’s valet, and Trump kept him on as his body man after Nauta left the service and Trump left the White House.

Nauta has been listed as a co-defendant of Donald Trump in the classified documents case brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith, which is being tried in Judge Aileen Cannon’s courtroom.

Nauta is now trying to have his case dismissed claiming the DOJ is retaliating against him for having taken the Fifth in the early stages of the investigation.

The complaint by Nauta’s legal team goes into detail regarding an interaction that took place between Stanley Woodward, Nauta’s attorney, and David Raskin, who was working for Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Raskin had invited Woodward to a meeting to discuss the case, making it sound rather casual, but at the meeting, Raskin told Woodward they were expecting Nauta’s “full cooperation.”

The filing goes on to say, “In particular, Mr. Raskin declined any such proposition to proffer by Mr. Woodward.”

While only one charge was discussed at the meeting, more charges were presented in a target letter that was later received by Nauta.

His defense team added, “The current discovery in the present case also reveals that several individuals were involved in the same type of conduct — moving the boxes — in the same or similar time, manner, and place as Mr. Nauta, but they themselves were not criminally investigated themselves for that conduct.”

More unsealed documents have also shown that the charges crafted in the case were, in fact, a collaboration between the Biden White House, the Department of Justice, and the National Archives, not quite how the Biden White House portrayed the situation.

How many times have Democrats stated they don’t want to see Trump in the White House again for fear he would go after his enemies with the DOJ? Well, that seems to be exactly what the Biden administration has been doing in this case.
