Trump CIA Nominee Confirmed

They sure took their sweet time, but Donald Trump’s CIA Director nominee has finally been confirmed.

John Ratcliffe, who is more than qualified for this post, was finally confirmed on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

The Senate voted 74-25 to approve him.

It’s About Time

Ratcliffe’s career got started as the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.

During that time, he also served as the Mayor of Heath, TX.

In 2015, he took a seat in the House, representing TX-4, a seat he held until May 2020, when Trump named him his Director of National Intelligence.

During his time in the House, he sat on the Judiciary and Homeland Security committees, also serving as the subcommittee chair of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies.

On the Homeland Security Committee, he was also on the subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency and chaired the subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection.

On the Judiciary Committee, he served on the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations and was vice chairman of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law.

He has also served on the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security and as a member of the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet.

His resume clearly qualifies him for this position, but he also served on Trump’s defense impeachment team and has been a loyal advocate in Congress for Trump, which is a no-no for today’s Democrats.

Ratcliffe has been adamant that he wants to put pressure on the Chinese, as well as focus on the threat technology poses to the country.

During his confirmation hearing, he said the goal of the agency under his leadership would be to “produce insightful, objective, all-source analysis, never allowing political or personal biases to cloud our judgment or infect our products.”

I look forward to seeing what Ratcliffe does in this assignment, as this is yet another key Trump appointment that I fully support.
