Trump campaign plane forced to make emergency landing
One of former President Donald Trump's campaign planes was forced to make an emergency landing last week.
This is because, according to the Daily Caller, the plane suffered a midair malfunction.
By itself, this is already a big story. But, what makes this story even bigger is that this is the second plane malfunction that the Trump campaign suffered in a seven-day period.
This fact has some individuals suggesting that the malfunctions might not be a coincidence.
The latest incident
It took place on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, when Trump's running mate, U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) was riding aboard what the Trump team refers to as "Trump Force Two."
The New York Times reported:
A chartered campaign plane carrying Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, was forced to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee on Friday shortly after takeoff because of a door malfunction on the aircraft, a campaign spokeswoman said.
The good news is that the malfunction was quickly taken care of, and the plane - with Vance - was able to continue on to its destination in short order.
The Times continues:
The spokeswoman, Taylor Van Kirk, said that the aircraft, a Boeing 737-86J that the campaign refers to as Trump Force Two, returned to Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, where the problem was quickly resolved before the flight continued to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
It was just about a week before this that Trump's own plane suffered a malfunction.
The first incident
It, according to CBS News, took place on Aug. 9, 2024.
CBS reported:
Former President Donald Trump's plane was forced Friday to divert its landing to Billings, Montana, due to a mechanical issue, airport officials confirmed to CBS News. Trump was holding a rally in Bozeman, Montana, Friday night, but his private plane landed instead in Billings Friday afternoon, Billings-Logan International Airport said in a statement. Bozeman is about 150 miles west of Billings.
A major difference between this malfunction and the malfunction of Trump Force Two is that, as a result of this malfunction, Trump was forced to switch planes.
Per CBS:
The airport said Trump's plane "landed without incident," and Trump then departed for Bozeman on another private jet. The details of the mechanical issue were not confirmed.
There is currently a lot of speculation online about whether the two incidents are merely a coincidence or something more concerning. The Trump campaign has not offered further comment on the situation.
