Trump campaign disses Project 2025 after leader steps down

The campaign of former President Donald Trump blasted Project 2025 after one of its leaders stepped down, furthering the chaos that his lack of support may have caused within the ranks to this point.

Paul Dans stepped down Tuesday because of a rift between him and Heritage Foundation president Dr. Kevin Roberts.

“Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign— it will not end well for you,” Trump campaign senior advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita wrote in a statement about the group's future.

 Will it shut down?

One report on X did suggest that the project could be shut down because of the leadership change, but a source told the Daily Caller that it probably would go on and gear up for the next phase.

The campaign statement could be destabilizing for the project, however, and some were disheartened by it.

Trump's distancing from Project 2025 started in early July on Truth Social. He claimed there and at several subsequent rallies that he had not heard about the project, wasn't familiar with it, and didn't support it.

On the other hand, President Joe Biden has been calling it Trump's Project 2025 for weeks event though there was no affiliation between the two.

For the people

Of course, the left would hate Project 2025 because it promises solutions to things they don't even think are problems--rampant crime, illegal immigration, and inflation, just to name a few.

It also promises to dismantle the deep state, but Trump may just think it's a little too extreme in some areas.

The website very clearly states that the project is not from Trump, but people naturally assume anything big that's conservative would have Trump's support.

In this case, that assumption was wrong.

For whatever reason, Trump has no lost love for Project 2025 and does not wish to be tied to it.

Can it continue without Trump's support? Only time will tell.
