Donald Trump held a rally in Erie, PA, over the weekend.
The former president was not only addressing the crowd, but he was also addressing every GOP candidate in the field.
His message… drop out now and support his campaign, reported AP News.
Dual Message
So, the message that Trump sent was a bit confusing considering his attacks against several of the other GOP candidates.
Trump claimed that all GOP candidates should drop out and just hand him the nomination. He added, “Every dollar spent attacking me by Republicans is a dollar given straight to” Joe Biden’s re-election campaign.
Trump went on to claim that all the candidates, ironically attacking Ron DeSantis in the process, calling him DeSanctis, are “wasting hundreds of millions of dollars that Republicans should be using to build a massive vote-gathering operation.”
Trump continued, “They’re not indicting me; they’re indicting you. I just happen to be standing in the way,” reported the Daily Wire.
Well, no, that is not true, because we would not be going to jail if Trump loses his case.
And if Trump truly believes that every dollar spent attacking him is helping Biden, then why is he attacking Ron DeSantis on a regular basis instead of just concentrating on the issues of the election?
If those are the rules that Trump wants to play by, fine, but respect the rules within your campaign and stop lobbing attacks against the other GOP candidates and concentrate on your platform and going after Joe Biden.
I know this report is not going to sit well with Trump supporters, but Trump cannot have it both ways here. If he wants the other candidates to stop slinging mud at him, then stop slinging mud that them.
We need a unified front heading into the 2024 election, and we do not have that at all.
If something upends Trump’s campaign, his surrogates are already on record saying they will not support Ron DeSantis in the 2024 general election, yet they want DeSantis supporters to come over to their camp.
Does anyone here realize that we cannot beat Democrats unless every Republican voter gets up off the couch and pulls the handle for a Republican candidate? We really need to look at the big picture here.
Trump’s numbers mean nothing in the primary other than getting the nod. If he does not have the support of DeSantis voters, he loses… it’s as simple as that.
These childish attacks must stop from everyone… concentrate on the issues and if you want to attack someone, attack Joe Biden.
