Trump Attorneys Call for Jack Smith Investigation

There are more than a few people who do not support Donald Trump that believe his allies in Congress are taking orders directly from him.

Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Byron Donalds (R-FL), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Lauren Boebert (R-CO) are all on that list.

Trump has made numerous suggestions on Truth Social that eventually came to fruition, and his legal team is doing it again, demanding an investigation into Special Counsel Jack Smith.

Call for an Investigation

Attorney Alina Habba, who has been serving as a legal spokesperson for Trump, made the demand this Sunday while appearing on Fox News.

She stated, "We're not concerned because we know the facts of the cases, which I can't get into, obviously, for privileged reasons, but I can tell you that it's to tie him up.

"It's definitely political. The motivation [of Fulton County DA Fani Willis] is now under investigation by Jim Jordan for, and I believe Jack Smith should be investigated as well," reported Fox News.

The danger in going public in making those demands is that if Congress does open an investigation, Habba could be potentially hurting some Republicans in the election. Members of the House in more moderate districts are just not going to stand for Congress doing Trump's bidding, so I think putting this out there like that was a mistake.

Habba also broke the much-expected move that Trump's attorneys are going to do everything they can do have these trial dates pushed back beyond the election.

Habba stated, "These trial dates also are going to move. It's unrealistic. It's theatrics, and no judge is going to say that you can be on two trials at once in two different states, because a lot of these overlap.

"They look at the start date of the trial, but these are four- to six-week trials at the least. So there's no way they're not going to overlap. I mean, they're gonna have to go into October, November of next year, again, by design."

I think she may be wrong in her assumptions, as Trump only has one judge that I would say would even consider moving a trial date, that being Judge Cannon.

The only trial that I would like to see take place before the election would be the classified documents case, solely on the implications it has on Trump being able to hold office.

With Smith invoking the Espionage Act in those charges, if Trump loses, he would be disqualified from holding any public office, per the 14th Amendment.

As voters, we need that issue to be settled before the primary starts, in my opinion.
