Trump Appears Ready to Appoint Kash Patel to Head CIA

Donald Trump is clearly making a big splash with his appointments.

For the most part, I have liked what I have seen, but there are a couple of appointments that I do not like.

At the top of that list is Kash Patel heading the CIA.

Right Man for the Job

If Patel does not get the CIA job, he is likely to get the FBI job, but I think both would be a big mistake.

I do not question the fact our intelligence communities need to be cleaned up, but I just don’t want a conspiracy theorist in there doing it.

Patel, who was a top aide for Devin Nunes when he was in Congress as well as having served in the Department of Defense and the National Security Council, is believed to be Trump’s top choice for the CIA.

If not that or the CIA, then he could be named the Director of National Intelligence, and rumors are that Patel would accept any of those positions.

Trump wanted Patel as the Deputy Director of the CIA when he was in office prior, but the head of the agency at the time, Gina Haspel, reportedly threatened to resign if Trump put him in that post, so Trump backed off.

I know Patel is very popular in MAGA, and I know Donald Trump loves the guy and clearly wants to reward him for being an endless warrior for him on all fronts, but I just don’t like the guy.

In defending Trump, he has pitched a lot of crazy conspiracy theories, and that is simply not what we need in charge of the CIA.

Furthermore, due to his reputation, he will never be taken seriously by anyone outside of MAGA, and that is just not a good look for this presidency.

Trump could have brought Pompeo back, or taken someone like Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) or Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX).

I also don’t like the appointment of Governor Kristi Noem as the Director of Homeland Security, as I just don’t see what qualifies her for that position.

Again, he could have looked at someone like Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), Rep. Mark Green (R-TN), or Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA), all of whom I believe would have been better choices.

I would love to be wrong on this and see Patel do an amazing job, as he has done some great work for Nunes in the past.

I just don’t like what I have seen from him since Trump left office. Again, I would love to be wrong, but I think Patel could cause some serious problems for Trump.
