Trump Appeal of Gag Order in Hush Money Case Rejected

Donald Trump did have some luck this week in the courts, but that luck just ran out.

Trump’s attorneys took another shot at having the gag order against him lifted, but it was to no avail.

On Thursday, New York’s Supreme Court rejected the appeal to have the hush-money case gag order lifted against Trump.

Sorry, Donald

The gag order as it currently stands does not allow Donald Trump to discuss anything about the prosecuting attorneys or their families.

It does not cover Judge Juan Merchan or Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.

In the ruling, the court dismissed the appeal, stating, “No substantial constitutional question is directly involved.”

The sentencing for this trial is on November 26, and the case is more or less over at this point save Trump’s appeal.

It is a bit confusing as to why Trump continues to fight the gag order when the first part of the trial is over.

He has been hitting Merchan and Bragg fairly hard, and he is permitted to do so, but the prosecutors in the case cannot be touched, and I have really not heard Trump say too much about them anyway.

I still suspect that this case will be reversed or that whatever sentence Merchan invokes will be drastically reduced by the time it is over.

I don’t see how the verdict holds up, especially considering all the apparent ruling errors and the possible conflict of interest that was in place with Merchan and his daughter’s company.

That, however, is quite a ways away, as I don’t suspect we will have any movement on the actual appeal until well after the election.
