There is a major push among Democrats to have Donald Trump removed from the ballot via the 14th Amendment.
I have covered this exhaustingly, but Trump’s camp has been rather silent about it.
That all changed on Monday, as Trump’s camp pulled out the howitzer and let loose, reported Axios.
Not Relevant… Yet
In order to use the 14th Amendment, Donald Trump would have to be convicted of insurrection, which has not yet happened.
Now, there are two indictments that could eventually bring this into play, but at this point, the argument is mute because Trump has not had due process.
In addition to Democrats, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA), law professors William Baude and Michael Paulsen penned an article on the subject.
Well, Trump’s camp just pushed back, calling it an "absurd conspiracy theory."
The Trump spokesperson stated, "The people who are pursuing this absurd conspiracy theory and political attack on President Trump are stretching the law beyond recognition much like the political prosecutors in New York, Georgia, and D.C.
"There is no legal basis for this effort except in the minds of those who are pushing it."
One case has already been filed and dismissed, proving my point… this is just a talking point to get people riled up.
However, they are powerless to use this unless Trump is found guilty of very specific charges. Until then, this is all just white noise.
It also sounds a lot like election interference to me... so hear me out.
You have elected officeholders using an unconstitutional argument to sway voter opinion against an opposing party candidate. These are the people that Americans lean on for expertise, yet they are totally lying to their constituents by pushing this narrative.
Please, explain to me how that is not election interference.
