Trump Adviser Steve Bannon Will Not Get ‘Club Fed’ for Prison Time

Last week, Steve Bannon was informed that the stay against his prison sentence was lifted and that he would be required to turn himself in to authorities by July 1 to begin serving his term.

Bannon surely hoped that the nature of his crime would have him headed to one of the more cushy prisons in the federal system, known as “Club Fed,” but that will not be the case.

Bannon was informed that he must report to Danbury, CT, to serve his sentence in a low-security federal prison.

No Club Fed for You

Bannon is set to serve a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress.

Even though his appeal has not yet been exhausted, a federal judge recently decided that Bannon should begin serving his sentence.

This just stinks of political weaponization of the justice system, as Bannon has once again become a key surrogate for Trump.

The reporting date ensures that Bannon will spend all but the final week of the election in jail, unable to support Trump and rallies and campaign events.

The reason Bannon is not getting Club Fed treatment is because of another legal matter that has yet to be resolved.

Bannon still has another pending criminal manner in New York over a fraud scheme branded “We Build the Wall.”

This sentence is for Bannon's failing to comply with a congressional subpoena related to the January 6 House Select Committee’s investigation.

Bannon’s attorneys had cited the election as the primary reason that he should not be required to serve his sentence, stating, “This would also effectively bar Mr. Bannon from serving as a meaningful advisor in the ongoing national campaign.”

The Connecticut facility houses about 1,000 male inmates and became famous nationally when it was depicted in “Orange is the New Black” TV show.

Bannow is the second Trump adviser to serve time, with Peter Navarro having reported to prison several weeks ago to serve his sentence.
