Trey Gowdy: What's the Matter with the Guy That Won?

If you are a regular reader of CJR and BND, you know that Trey Gowdy is one of my all-time favorites.

There are few times when I disagree with his take, but this is one of them.

And it is not that I completely disagree with him, I just disagree with how we got here.

I am talking about Kevin McCarthy winning the nomination for the GOP Speaker of the House candidate.

But He Won

Gowdy warned about expectations before the election, and he was dead on.

He seems to forget, however, that McCarthy was among those getting us so hyped up.

Most of us would agree that even though we got the House, the margin is far too thin from what it should have been.

So, before I go any further, take a listen to what Gowdy has to say about the leadership elections…

Now, while I agree that we ae pretty much stuck with McCarthy at this point or risk Democrats grabbing the speakership, I have to ask why our representatives did not listen to We the People.

We all demanded change in leadership, especially in the Senate.

Mitch McConnell, who has a seven percent approval rating, was still nominated and elected.

To make matters worse, McConnell was laughing in our faces, taunting us, telling us no resistance would work because he already he had the votes.

Gowdy used the word “settle,” and he could not be more right.

But why do We the People always have to settle and why do these politicians always seem to get their way?

By all accounts, we just had a disastrous election, yet every person in leadership is going to get another term in leadership.

They are being rewarded for their failures rather than behind held accountable as we had asked.
