Fox News host Trey Gowdy has challenged Republican lawmakers to get results after a weeklong show to select Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as Speaker of the House.
Gowdy shared the words during his "Sunday Night in America" program.
House Republicans are ready to get to work on behalf of the American people!

Gowdy noted the difference between fame and notoriety, arguing that fame is acclaim for something a person has done. Notoriety, on the other hand, is the desire for attention.
House Republicans seemed eager for some of both last week as 20 holdouts pushed the selection for the House speaker to the brink.
A total of 15 rounds of voting were required over an entire week, including a final round after midnight on early Saturday morning to determine the final outcome.

"McCarthy received 216 votes. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., received 212 votes. Six representatives voted "present," according to CNN," WBDO reported.
"I hope one thing is clear after this week: I will never give up. And I will never give up for you, the American people," McCarthy said on Twitter Saturday morning.
McCarthy was sworn in Saturday at 1:40 a.m. EST. All members were sworn in shortly after.

Republicans now have the attention of the American people, but not in the best way. Now that the party has control of the House, Gowdy argues that it's time to get to work to help the nation.
