Travis Kelce talks 'outside noise' and managing life as half of a power couple

As the Chiefs take on the Ravens this weekend for a spot in the Super Bowl, the relationship between Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce and pop superstar Taylor Swift is all but certain to generate conversation and rumors, but the gridiron standout recently explained how he and the singer maintain perspective amid all the attention, as Fox News reports.

There is no doubt that the Kelce-Swift saga has taken the country by storm this football season, and should the Chiefs end up in the league's big name next month, fans will be sent into a frenzy, but that is not to say that it will impact the pair one way or another.

Keeping an even keel

Kelce held forth on Friday about the challenges that come not just with being one of the top professional athletes in his chosen sport, but also with being half of an entertainment power couple.

When it comes to his performance on the field and the increased chatter that has surrounded it of late, Kelce said, “I'd be silly to say that I didn't notice it go up.”

“I think the Super Bown helped that and, obviously, how I live my off-field life definitely helps out,” he added.

Kelce went on to say, “But I brought this upon myself and I do enjoy having fun with it all. The biggest thing is making sure my focus is right here in this building.”

With some critics speculating that his attentions in recent months have been elsewhere and not necessarily on the football field, the star player said, “It's just outside noise. Dealing with everyone else's perspective of things.”

Happiness trumps all

At times during the current season, any perceived slippage in Kelce's performance immediately sparked claims that Swift was pulling his focus in the wrong direction, but according to the Chiefs stalwart, he and his girlfriend pay no mind to such chatter.

“The only thing we've talked about is as long as we're happy, we can't listen to anything that's outside noise,” Kelce said.

In terms of how they navigate the ups and downs in the media, their personal happiness as a couple is “all that matters,” he insisted.

Engagement imminent?

Rumors have emerged that the high-powered couple have already discussed future engagement plans, though no developments on that front are said to have materialized just yet.

Even so, the prospect of an official union seems more and more likely all the time, with recent reports suggesting that Kelce has already spoken to friends about what sort of ring he has in mind for his future intended bride.
