The University of New Mexico hosted a Tomi Lahren event this week.
As often happens when conservative speakers on campuses these days, a protest was organized.
However, this was no regular protest, as it was clear early on that it would be significant and likely violent.
The school did nothing.
In turn, a massive group of violent protesters showed up at the event, rioting outside, banging on the doors.
Lahren eventually holed up in a kitchen and needed a police escort to leave the campus.
No Opposing Voices
The situation on campus got out of control rather quickly.
Outside the room where Lahren was speaking, a large, angry group had gathered and were screaming and attempting to break into the auditorium.
Eventually, they did breach the door, with Lahren, her father, and members of the TPUSA chapter at the event barricading themselves in a small room while the mob yelled, "F**k Tomi Lahren."
This was what was happening outside the room before the breach…
The only security provided for the event was a couple of campus police officers, which you saw in that video.
There was a clear disregard for everyone by the school, including those two officers.
Fox News discusses…
After the report surfaced, the University of New Mexico responded, "The University of New Mexico is committed to the principles of free speech and values its role as a public square for debate, a marketplace of ideas, and a place to test and challenge competing viewpoints and opinions. In this context, allowing speakers invited by a student organization on campus in no way implies an endorsement of the content of their speeches or their opinions. And those who disagree with the ideas expressed are encouraged to respectfully voice their perspectives.
"The safety of our campus community and visitors is our first priority."
That last line is a complete and utter joke.
If that was the case, why was there not more security, especially when such a large group had gathered, a clearly violent group making significant noise?
That is nothing but lip service in my opinion.
The response continued, "We are deeply disappointed in the actions of those individuals who intentionally chose to disrupt a scheduled speaker and infringed upon the rights of the speaker and those who attended the event to listen and engage, vandalized University property and unlawfully pulled a fire alarm.
"UNM is investigating these incidents and will hold anyone who violated the law or University policies accountable.
"Additionally, several UNM departments will be meeting to discuss improving the environment in which a speaker's right to conduct their scheduled programming is ensured along with the public's right to free speech, especially when our facilities are in use for multiple events at the same time."
Tomi is not backing down, stating, "There is not a campus I won't go to.
"I'm going to keep doing this and speaking on campus, because you will not shut down free speech.
"You will not intimidate speakers and conservative students.
"This happening has actually inspired me to do more campuses, because we cannot allow them to intimidate us and back us into a corner, into the silence. That means they win. And I will never let that happen."
Let me ask a question...
Joe Biden declared war on MAGA and we have had a congressman talk about seeking out and killing the MAGA movement.
Why is the media not asking the White House if it thinks Joe Biden's comments encouraged this violent attack against Lahren?
