Tiger Woods confirms death of his mother
The GOAT of golfing broke some sad news this week.
Tiger Woods announced that his mother, Kultida Woods, had recently passed away.
Mrs. Woods was 80 years old (reportedly).
She’s Gone
When Tiger Woods first popped on the scene, Earl Woods, his father, was almost as big a celebrity as Tiger was.
His mother, Kultida, was very much behind the scenes, but she was clearly a rock for Tiger to lean on when his very stern father was hammering him about his game.
Tiger will openly admit that Earl was hard on him, but that is what made Tiger so successful.
When Tiger lost his father, his mother became his sole cornerstone, and she stuck by him no matter what, always on his side, be it a media controversy or an off round. And she was there to celebrate all the big moments as well.
This will be a crushing loss for Tiger, as he noted in paying tribute to his mother.
Tiger said his mother “was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh.
“She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been so possible.”
Kultida was born in Thailand and a civilian worker at a US Army outpost in Bangkok when she met Earl Woods (Vietnam War).
Earl Woods was in the Army, serving in the US Army Special Forces at the time.
They were married in 1969, and eventually moved back to the states, having lived in New York and California, where they eventually settled.
The couple gave birth to Tiger in 1975, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Rest in peace, Kultida. And Tiger, you have my deepest condolences
