Theobald ‘Theo’ Lengyel Arrested After Girlfriend’s Body Found Dead

Funk rock and metal fans were stunned to hear of the arrest of Theobald "Theo" Lengyel.

Lengyel, 54, was arrested and charged with 1st-degree murder in the death of Alice "Alyx" Kamakaokalani Herrmann, 61.

Lengyel is a former saxophone player and an original member of the band Mr. Bungle.

Charged

Herrmann was reportedly last seen on December 3, 2023, in Santa Cruz, CA. She was there practicing with her competitive canoe paddling group, Outrigger Santa Cruz.

She was reported missing by her family nine days later, claiming they had not been seen or heard from her in more than a week.

After her car was found in front of Lengyel’s home, he was immediately named a person of interest in her disappearance.

The Capitola Police Department stated, "As the investigation progressed, it became clear that foul play was involved, leading to the identification of Theobald Lengyel as a suspect.”

Herrmann’s remains were later found at the Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley in a wooded area.

The statement from the police continued, "The diligent work of our investigators, in coordination with our law enforcement partners, has led to the apprehension of Theobald Lengyel in connection with the tragic homicide of Alice Kamakaokalani.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this time."

Mr. Bungle was founded just three years after the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with both groups playing funk rock and funk metal.

This resulted in a feud between Mike Patton, who originally was the lead singer of Faith No More, then the lead singer for Mr. Bungle after Faith No More split up.

Once Patton joined Mr. Bungle, a feud that left the other band members confused erupted between Patton and Chili Peppers lead singer, Anthony Kiedis.  This was even more confusing because Faith No More had supported the Chili Peppers when Patton was the band’s lead singer.

After seeing Patton in a Faith No More in 1989 video, Kiedis accused Patton of stealing his moves, stating,  “My drummer says he’s gonna kidnap (Patton), shave his hair off and cut off one of his feet, just so he’ll be forced to find a style of his own.”

The feud died down but was reignited after Faith No More broke up and Patton joined Mr. Bungle.
