Teenager Killed, 16 Wounded in Violent Stabbing Attack

One teenager was killed and 16 others wounded in a stabbing involving multiple attackers in a French town early Sunday morning.

The incident in Crépol included a reported 10 attackers who fought with students at a late-night party.

“They did not come to have fun but to cause harm,” Crépol Mayor Martine Lagut stated.

“These are 16, 17-year-old children from the surrounding villages who were there. Parents have already come to pick up their children, but some found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Lagut said. “They were leaving and these people arrived with knives to attack them.”

"The injured people are all aged between 16 and 20, it has been reported. Two of them were rushed to the emergency section of Valence Hospital by the firefighters, as were eight other injured people," the Sun reported.

"Others were reported to be in a state of shock after the horror attack. The town has a small population of some 550 locals, out of which 400 were present at the festival," it continued.

A motive has not yet been revealed in the case. The event included a security guard who was also wounded in the attacks.

No arrests have been made as of late Sunday, with police continuing to investigate leads in tracking down those involved.

The deceased student was reportedly a member of a local rugby club, and was identified on the team's social media.

The tragic loss of life leaves shock and many unanswered questions for the village's residents, with the culprits remaining on the loose and residents in fear.
