There has been a massive shift of power in the state of Wisconsin, and it is not good for conservatives.
Recently, the Wisconsin Supreme Court swore in a new liberal court member, handing the majority over to liberals and Democrats, reported AP News.
The shockwave in the state was felt immediately, as changes were made on the court the second that liberals were given control.
Not a Good Sign
Within just a few days of liberals getting the advantage, the court fired its administrative director, which is NOT the norm.
When conservatives took charge of the bench, the previous administrative director who had been appointed by the liberal bench was permitted to finish out the term, so this was a warning sign that was not taken lightly.
Additionally, some duties were removed from the Chief Justice, a conservative.
Democrats were also immediately redrawing district lines to make them more favorable for Democrats, clearly assuming the liberal court will approve the lines when they ultimately show up before the bench.
We have to assume that voting laws are next on the docket with the 2024 election right around the corner.
C.J. Szafir, the chief executive of the conservative, Wisconsin-based Institute for Reforming Government, stated, “It’s an absolute seismic shift in Wisconsin policy and politics. We’re about to usher in a very progressive state Supreme Court, the likes that we have not seen in quite some time. And it’s really going to change how everything operates,” reported the Washington Post.
Wisconsin has never been an easy win for Republicans, and now it may be all but impossible to take seats.
I guess we can be thankful that Senator Johnson (R-WI) just won his re-election, otherwise that would be another seat in the Senate that Democrats could easily steal.
The new justice, Janet Protasiewicz, a Milwaukee County judge, was very vocal about flipping district maps during the campaign, so it is clear that we have an activist/politician on the bench instead of an honest juror.
You know Democrats are drooling over the idea of being able to lock down this state, and make no mistake about it, the political landscape of Wisconsin is about to change rather dramatically.
