Supreme Court Accepts Abortion Pill Case

The future of the 2024 election may rest in the hands of the Supreme Court, and I am not talking about anything related to Donald Trump.

This is about abortion, an issue that polarized the last election, and it may be even worse depending upon the ruling that will come from the Supreme Court.

The court has agreed to take up the case against mifepristone, an abortion drug that is available through the mail, even in states with strict abortion laws.

Let’s Do This

The question here is if the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) properly approved the drug.

According to U.S. District Court Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, that was not the case and the court ordered access to the drug to be suspended.

The case was then appealed, with the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that the drug can be made available, but there must be some restrictions placed on it.

That decision was tabled until the Supreme Court decided if it would take the case or not, and the court has decided to accept it.

Separate cases filed by the Department of Justice and Danco Laboratories are being joined, and the court will hear the case during the upcoming term.

The medication has come under scrutiny because of adverse side effects associated with women who have taken the pill.

One study that was cited by the SBA Pro-Life America found that emergency room visits had increased by 507% between 2002 and 2015, as well as 60% of those visits being incorrectly reported as miscarriages.

Even so, chemical abortion has become very popular in the country, with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reporting, "In 2021, 53.0% of all abortions were early medication abortions. Use of early medication abortion increased 3% from 2020 to 2021 and 137% from 2012 to 2021.”

The report stated that chemical abortions are four times more likely to have complications than surgical abortions.

It also noted side effects of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, fever/chills, and headaches.

Senior Counsel Erin Hawley, vice president of the Center for Life and Regulatory Practice stated, "Every court so far has agreed that the FDA acted unlawfully in removing common-sense safeguards for women and authorizing dangerous mail-order abortions.

“We urge the Supreme Court to do the same. The FDA has harmed the health of women and undermined the rule of law by illegally removing every meaningful safeguard from the chemical abortion drug regimen.

"Like any federal agency, the FDA must rationally explain its decisions. Yet its removal of common-sense safeguards—like a doctor’s visit before women are prescribed chemical abortion drugs—does not reflect scientific judgment but rather a politically driven decision to push a dangerous drug regimen."

I have zero doubt that once the primary races are over, Democrats will again weaponize abortion to try to tip the polls back in Biden’s favor.

It worked for them in 2022, so I see no reason for them to think that it would not work again in 2024.

Biden needs a boost, so there is no way they will use this bullet just yet, more than likely saving it for that final push to try to overtake Trump and keep Joe Biden in the White House for another four years.

If the court decides against the medication being made available, they will also revive the idea of expanding the court to block “extremist” rulings.

So, dig in, my friends, because the fight for control in 2024 is going to get very ugly and nasty very soon.
