Lori Lightfoot is headed to court.
A reporter who has tangled with her in the past is suing the polarizing mayor.
William Kelly, who had his press credentials revoked, is taking Lightfoot to court over a violation of his First Amendment right, also citing Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown as part of the suit.
If you have ever seen a Lightfoot press conference, they are pretty confrontational.
For all the criticism that Trump used to take, Lightfoot can be like Trump on steroids at times with the way she treats the media when they ask her a tough question.
Kelly has done that on some pretty obvious issues, and Lightfoot recently revoked his press credentials to keep him out of city hall.
In May, Lightfoot told Kelly he was "full of crap" after giving a question, which Kelly recently recalled with Fox News.
He stated, "I was asking the obvious questions, and she lost her temper.
"Mayor Lightfoot is in re-election mode, and she doesn't want any more embarrassing questions to go viral. So she revoked my media credential. … This is a very serious constitutional crisis in the city of Chicago."
According to Kelly, Lightfoot made up an altercation between himself and her security detail as a way to remove his credential, citing that "false report" as the reason that he was being banned.
Kelly stated, "The problem is that [Brown] sat down and wrote me a letter telling me that he was revoking my media credentials when the police department is down 1,500 officers, we have an out-of-control crime epidemic, police suicide is at an all-time high.
"He's taking time out of his day to write me a letter telling me that he's revoking my media credential.
"I think the priorities are completely out of whack."
He added, "She wants to win this case against me and then expand this attack on the First Amendment to all the reporters who ask her real questions or any reporter nationally who would dare to ask a real question of a powerful politician."
I don't know how this case will turn out, but I am sure it will be fun to watch!
