January 6 Committee Subpoenas Trump

The January 6 Select Committee did another televised hearing today.

The big finale was a vote on whether to subpoena Donald Trump.

Surprise... it passed.

Looking Forward to It

Committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) stated, "This is a question about accountability to the American people.

"He's required to answer to those millions of Americans whose votes he tried to throw out as part of his scheme to remain in power."

To this point, Trump has refused to testify at any hearing.

This time may be different, however, as Trump knows he needs to change people's opinion on this if he is going to run for president again.

On the idea of testifying, a source close to Trump stated that he "loves the idea of testifying."

The source further stated that if Trump does come in, he would "talk about how corrupt the election was, how corrupt the committee was, and how Nancy Pelosi did not call up the National Guard that Trump strongly recommended for her to do three days earlier on January 3, 2021."

I don't think it will work that way, however.

The committee is not going to give him the ability to rant about topics of his choosing.

Personally, I would love to see him come in and get this issue settled one way or the other.

As voters, we need to know what is going on for 2024 and this cannot be hanging over Trump's head for two more years if he decides to run.

Having said all that, I strongly doubt he will show up at a hearing.
