Steve Bannon Suggests Trump Run Again in 2028
Conservative podcast host and Trump ally Steve Bannon is trying to get everyone on the left whipped up.
Bannon is now suggesting that since the Constitution does not specifically use the word “consecutive” in outlining presidential terms, Trump should run again in 2028.
This is idiotic, and a hard “no” for me.
The Constitution
If I am being honest, this statement by Bannon infuriated me, as it only feeds the narrative the left is pushing about Trump wanting to be a dictator or a monarch.
As conservatives, we respect the Constitution and follow it to the letter, and now Bannon is looking for an idiotic loophole to gain some clicks, likes, and shares.
The 22nd Amendment is quite clear in outlining that a president is restricted to two terms, and may only run for one additional term if they have acted as president for more than two years in another term (such as a VP replacing a deceased president halfway through the term).
To that point, regarding a possible third term for Trump, Bannon stated, “The viceroy Mike Davis tells me since it doesn’t actually say consecutive that, I don’t know, maybe we do it again in ’28? Are you guys down for that? Trump ’28?”
Bannon put that statement together very carefully, using a term associated with the royals to further stoke the fire (viceroy).
After Bannon made the statement, Davis tried to do damage control, saying that Bannon was “obviously trolling” and “only Obama gets a third term, with his puppet Biden.”
Trolling or not, he never should have said it because we all know how this works in the media and with Democrats.
For this to happen, every state would have to ratify a new rule to support a third term, and this is not happening.
Other than a few whackos in Congress, I can guarantee you that there is no way Republicans would support this, and I know I surely would not.
Presidents get two terms, period.
Anyone suggesting anything different is not a patriot or loyal to this country or our Constitution.
We don’t have dictators, and we don’t have monarchs. We elect representation, not leaders.
