Stefanik Moves to Try to Have James Removed via Bar Complaint

The maneuvering by those being considered as Trump’s VP continues.

The latest shot was fired from Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), who is on Trump’s shortlist.

Stefanik has filed a complaint with the New York Committee on Professional Standards against New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Time to Remove Her

James ran on the platform of going after Trump, and she has delivered on her promise.

She is on the verge of a guilty verdict in a case that could cost Trump upwards of $370 million if Judge Engoron gives her the full penalty requested in the case.

In her filing, Stefanik, in part, wrote, “While all Americans possess the right to express their opinions on matters of public interest, attorneys–particularly state attorneys general–are held to a higher standard due to their unique role as officers of the court.

“Her conduct not only constitutes a breach of her professional responsibilities but also risks irreparable harm to the public’s already eroding trust in our legal institutions.

“I urge the Attorney Grievance Committee to immediately conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate disciplinary action, including the immediate interim suspension, disbarment, or suspension of Attorney General James, to uphold the integrity of our legal profession and ensure justice is served impartially.”

Stefanik went on to offer 50 different examples of alleged wrongdoing of James (click here to read the full report).

Stefanik is clearly trying to gain favor with Trump, but this is only one of six cases that Trump is taking on right now.

The fraud case and E. Jean Carroll cases are both civil matters and while they could cost Trump a huge chunk of his fortune, the real threat to Trump’s presidency comes in the four federal cases he will be defending this year.

So far, Trump has been able to delay those cases, but he is running out of legal options to fend them off much longer.

His last best hope to have those cases dismissed is now before the Supreme Court, as Trump is trying to have a lower court ruling stayed while the Supreme Court hears arguments on his presidential immunity related to the J6 charges.
