Stefanik Files Ethics Complaint Against Judge Merchan

Rep. Elise Stefanik continues to work more for Donald Trump than the people who put her into office.

She is determined to get atop his VP list, recently filing yet another complaint to help Trump.

This time, it is an ethics complaint against Judge Juan Merchan for a conflict of interest in the hush-money case.

The Complaint

Stefanik’s complaint is centered around the employment of Judge Merchan’s daughter.

Merchan’s daughter works for Authentic Campaigns, which represents Democrats and left-leaning PACs.

Her client lists include names such as Kamala Harris and Adam Schiff, and she has been fundraising for her clients off the hush-money case, hence the conflict of interest.

Stefanik’s complaint stated, "This private caution has not deterred Judge Merchan’s judicial misconduct, as evidenced by this current complaint.

“Judge Merchan appears driven by Democrat partisanship and financial gain for his daughter."

She added, "This is especially true in politically sensitive cases where bias is most likely to rear its ugly head. Here, we are in the middle of a presidential election campaign.

“The circumstances are unprecedented: President Trump, a former president and the likely nominee of a major party for the presidency, is on trial," Stefanik wrote. "These proceedings are under a microscope."

Her complaint concluded, "A straightforward application of Section 100.3(e)(1)(D)(iii) requires recusal. As Judge Merchan has declined to do so, I request that you investigate his conduct and impose whatever discipline is required."

You may have noticed in my intro that I sound a bit bitter over this, and I am because this is not her job.

Trump has a team of lawyers to file complaints such as this, but she is so intent on getting Trump’s attention and showing Trump her loyalty that she is now wasting taxpayer money and time filing a complaint that is likely to fail or that Trump’s legal team could have filed.

This is the problem with the party right now… far too many Representatives and members of leadership are too worried about catching Trump’s eye and dropping the ball in promoting Republican candidates and passing legislation that will benefit We the People.

For the record, I agree that Merchan should not have been sitting on this bench, and he has clearly shown his bias in this case.

My issue is that Stefanik is not doing the job she was elected to do and that she is spending our tax dollars on it.

Perhaps this is why the GOP got clocked in the 2020, 2022, and 2023 election cycles.
