‘Star Trek’ Actress Jill Jacobsen Dead at 70
The sci-fi world is in mourning today after the death of a ‘Star Trek’ actress.
Jill Jacobsen, who appeared in “The Next Generation” and “Deep Space Nine” series has passed away.
Jacobsen was 70 years old.
She’s Gone
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jacobsen had been ill for some time before her death.
Longtime friend Dan Harary stated that she had passed at the Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center on December 8.
He added, “She will be deeply missed by numerous relatives, friends, and her beloved dogs, Benny and Kowalski.”
Jacobsen started her career in 1977 by playing Nurse Sherri Martin in “Nurse Sherri.”
The movie was far from a success, but it got her on the radar and the roles came pretty steadily after that.
She was getting fairly steady TV and movie work when she finally landed a recurring role on “Falcon Crest” in 1985.
She followed that up with a recurring role in “The New Gidget.”
As we noted above, she was in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” as well as “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” during her career, as well as a brief stint on the daytime soap, “Days of Our Lives.”
It would appear she left the industry about four years ago, with her final credit being “Reality Queen” and a single episode on “Etheria.”
Throughout her career, she won one award for Best Supporting Actress in “Last Look” by the Scare-A-Con Film Festival.
In that 2014 movie, she played the character Barbara. The movie is about a woman who comes home to her family for one “last look” after a family tragedy.
What some of her TV and movie fans may not even realize is that Jacobsen also had a career as a standup comedian, having performed at some of the best spots in the business, including The Improv and The Comedy Store.
