Squad Member Cori Bush Spends Half Million on Security After Calling to Defund Police

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) has spent over a half-million dollars in private security despite calls to defund police.

A new report details her campaign's spending that strongly contrasts her public political views.

"The Missouri lawmaker's campaign spent $38,528.63 on 'security services' between Oct. 20 and Nov. 28, according to its post-general report. The payments primarily flowed to the St. Louis-based Peace Security, which employs several 'security operators' with military or law enforcement experience, despite her opposition to them, its website shows," Fox News reported.

"The new private security payments follow the $490,000 Bush's campaign had already spent on it for the 2022 election cycle. The campaign has now surpassed the half-million dollar mark for such services, a luxury most Americans can't afford," it added.

Bush was also blasted recently in a hearing by Republican Rep. James Comer.

"But I'll say crime is gonna be a top priority for the Republicans on this committee in the in the next Congress, and perhaps Ms. Bush could come give us some pointers on how she's reduced crime in St. Louis, since she's been in Congress and what her ideas are to further reduce crime in St. Louis," Comer said sarcastically.

"But wait a minute. St. Louis has one of the highest crime rates in America," he added.

The comments add to the concerns over Bush's calls to defund police while paying for her own personal security.

Many Democrats dropped the defunding police rhetoric ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, realizing that the majority of American voters oppose the movement.

Bush has been one of the Democrats refusing to change her push against police in what is not an increasingly conflicting issue with her own personal practices.
