The footage allegedly showed a white Nissan Altima striking the girl at approximately 8:40 a.m. near North Broad and Erie Avenue before pausing for nearly a minute and then fleeing the scene. The victim sustained a concussion and bruises but survived the ordeal.
"According to law enforcement officials, at that time, a 14-year-old girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being struck in a hit-and-run incident involving a white Nissan Maxima," NBC 10 TV reported.
"An investigation into the incident, officials said, revealed that Street was behind the wheel of the vehicle at the time of the crash," it added.
Law enforcement officials stated that a bystander managed to record the license plate of the vehicle involved. Investigators linked the car to Street Jr. using cellphone data, placing him in the vicinity of the accident at the time it occurred.
During police questioning, Street Jr. claimed he had been visiting family in Atlantic City and had rented the vehicle to an unidentified individual. However, he provided no further details regarding the person's identity.
Street Jr. faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault by vehicle and accidents involving death or injury. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 8.
This incident is not Street Jr.'s first brush with the law. Previously, he was charged with disorderly conduct following altercations, including one during the inauguration ceremony for Mayor Cherelle Parker.
Additionally, he has faced prior arrests related to fights in September and February, resulting in probation and a brief prison sentence, according to court documents.
Sharif Street Jr. also has familial ties to former Philadelphia Mayor John Street.
