Soccer Player Dies After Encounter With Killer Croc

Jesus Lopez Ortiz was only 29-years-old.

He'll never get any older after due to his tragic and untimely death over the weekend.

The Costa Rican soccer star was killed by a crocodile.

Apparently, the father of two was simply trying to cool off in a local river, and he didn't realize that it was infested with crocodiles when he hopped in.

"With deep sorrow we make public the death of our player Jesus Lopez Ortiz (Chucho), may God rest his soul," his soccer team wrote on Facebook.

"Rest in peace, Chucho, we share your family’s pain."

Horrific footage of the incident was captured by people nearby, but it is not currently available online.

Maybe it was for a short while, but Chucho's soccer team as well as authorities have asked anyone who has posted or seen video of the gruesome incident to try to take it down out of respect for Chucho and his family.

The brutal video depicted the killer croc swimming through the water dragging the body of Chucho behind it, with many onlookers shouting and screaming in horror as they realized what was happening.

Despite the species being protected in Costa Rica, those nearby unloaded bullets into the animal, eventually killing it.

By that time though, it was too late.

Chucho was already dead.

"There are children, a mother, a father, brothers and wife who deserve respect," Chucho's team wrote. "We will remember you in the many facets of your sporting life as a coach, football player and also as a family father. You will always live in our hearts Chucho, fly high friend."

Ortiz leaves behind a wife and two little children who were only three and eight years old at the time of his death.

Rest in peace, Jesus Lopez Ortiz, your fans will miss you.
