Smith Introduces Superseding Indictment Against Trump

The much-anticipated indictment against Donald Trump by Special Counsel Jack Smith has finally arrived.

The new indictment was announced on Tuesday evening.

This is the superseding indictment for the election subversion case being presided over by Judge Chutkan.

Bad News for Trump

After the ruling on obstruction and presidential immunity, Smith was forced to go back to the drawing board to redo the Trump indictment in this case.

In announcing the new indictment, his office stated, “The superseding indictment, which was presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in this case, reflects the Government’s efforts to respect and implement the Supreme Court’s holdings and remand instructions.”

There were some small changes to the indictment, such as the removal of DOJ official Jeffrey Clark.

Clark had reportedly sent out a letter claiming the DOJ had "identified significant concerns that may have impacted the outcome of the election.”

Still in the indictment, however, are many of the direct allegations against Trump, including Trump pressuring then-Vice President Pence to block the certification of the election.

Now, it will be up to Judge Chutkan to determine which actions were those of a sitting president, if any, and which were those of a private citizen.

Trust me, the Supreme Court is not done with this case just yet because Trump is likely to appeal any decision made by Chutkan, then the Supreme Court will have the final say on the matter.

Trump responded as we would have expected, spitting venom and Democrats, the DOJ, and the courts, stating, "No Presidential Candidate, or Candidate for any Office, has ever had to put up with all of this Lawfare and Weaponization directly out of the Office of a Political Opponent.

"They’ve Weaponized local D.A.s and Attorney Generals, and anybody else that will listen, to Interfere with the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election - Never been done before. This is now Kamala’s [Harris'] Weaponized System against her Political Opponent.

“All of these Scams will fail, just as Deranged Jack’s Hoax in Florida has been fully dismissed, and we will win the Most Important Election in the History of our Country on November 5th. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump also stated, “This ridiculous political HOAX, which most thought was already won by me, comes right out of the White House and DOJ, and is being pushed by Kamala Harris and Crooked Joe Biden against their political opponent, ME.”

Trump complaining about the indictment will work with his base, but he is going to have to defend himself publicly on these charges if he expects to get any fence-sitters to pull the handle for him in this election.

This case will not be heard inside a courtroom before the election, so Trump must win it in the court of public opinion if he wants to beat Harris in November.
