Simone Biles says she knows 'when to be done' with Olympic career

Gold Medal Olympic gymnast Simone Biles just told Sports Illustrated that it's probably time to retire.

Simone Biles has implied that when it comes to the 2028 Olympics, she is not competing.

Biles gave an interview in which she shared her feelings about her career, saying that she has accomplished all she has ever dreamed.

She went so far as to call her career a "life and death issue."

“Life and death issue. Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done,” said Biles in the interview.

Biles also mentioned the harsh scrutiny she knows she may inevitably face if she did return for the 2028 Olympics.

“If you go back, you’ll be greedy. Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now?” Biles wrote.

“When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it? I don’t think the reality has set in of what I’ve exactly done in the sport. I can see it, and I hear it from people, and I see a glimpse of it, but the full magnitude I don’t think I’ve realized just yet,” Biles continued in the interview.

Biles is now 27 years old and has already accomplished more than most ever will in her short time on Earth.

She is right that she truly has already accomplished so much.

If she wishes to retire from the sport, it would be an honorable decision her fans and the Olympic community would surely respect.

However, fans of the sport might be disappointed to see her step away.

Do you think Simone Biles will actually say goodbye to gymnastics and not compete in the 2028 Olympics, or is she just looking for attention?
