Shoplifter and Security Guard Dead in Maryland Grocery Store

A shoplifting incident at a local grocery store in Oxon Hill, MD, has left two dead.

A female shoplifter and the security guard at the store were both killed in the exchange.

The shooting took place around 10:25 a.m. on Friday.

According to the local police report, the woman had been trying to shoplift at the store.

The guard confronted her, telling her multiple times to put the items back, then she pulled a handgun out of her purse and opened fire.

She hit the guard multiple times.

Even though the guard was hit, he was able to return fire, also hitting the woman.

Both of them succumbed to their wounds.

The guard was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female shoplifter was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died.

Prince George's County Police Major Zachary O'Lare stated, "It's quite concerning that these brazen acts are occurring, you know, across the country and in our backyard, especially right near our police division."
