Sheriff Chad Bianco announces candidacy for governor of California

It's been widely reported that Kamala Harris is strongly considering a gubernatorial run in California, and it's even been suggested that she's already the favorite to win the election despite not yet having entered.

Kamala Harris won't be the favorite for very long if Chad Bianco has anything to say about it.

The Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a Trump Republican, has become the first major Republican to announce a bid for the 2026 election for governor of California.

Despite California being perhaps the most solidly blue state in the nation, Bianco thinks he has a legitimate shot to win the election because California Democrats have led the state into failure.

"California is failing," Sheriff Chad Bianco said as the reason he thinks voters in California might finally be ready to ditch the Democrats.

"The ‘why’ is easy: California is failing," Bianco said when he announced his run. "California is failing in every aspect of our state."

He said that California is the "worst" at every part of government.

In a move Donald Trump would be proud of, Bianco has criticized the "waste" at the state's top level.

"Truly, I think the only part they’re good at is wasting money," Bianco said. "It’s sad that the greatest state in the country has in many places become a laughing stock."

Bianco said that 2025 in California has already been a tough year on consumers. Prices on common needs like eggs and gasoline have skyrocketed.

The Sheriff said the rise in prices is because of overregulation.

"It’s very easy to see why [essentials are] more expensive than every place in the rest of the country: it’s taxes and overregulation," Bianco said. "Decreasing regulations is simply just a plain different direction and one that involves common sense and reason into solving our problems and our issues."

Would you prefer Chad Bianco or Kamala Harris for the next governor of California?
